The University District Development Corporation (UDDC) is a private 501(c) (3) non-profit organization formed collaboratively in 2008 by UA Little Rock, City of Little Rock, Little Rock School District, faith-based institutions, neighborhood associations, businesses and residents of the University District. Our mission focuses on improving the quality of life and sense of place in the neighborhoods and commercial corridors surrounding UA Little Rock. Providing safe, decent, and affordable housing, along with increasing awareness of public health issues and promoting health are placed at the forefront of our goals.
UDDC activities include renovating and constructing housing in nine University District neighborhoods; working with neighborhood associations to build capacity; administering programs to promote healthy living in the district, including refurbishing the Oak Forest Community Garden and the operation of a summer Farmer’s Market; a Garden to Grill Health Awareness Class that focuses on healthy cooking, physical activity, mental and emotional stressors, and senior citizen activities.
